MIRI: Government grants for minor rural projects (MRP) to the various associations, though not substantial in amount, are still important to help them implement priority projects.
Political secretary to the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Sebastian Ting said many of the associations also used the money to carry out beneficial activities for the communities.
“I am very happy with their performance and also the good relationship among the associations and also between them and the Minister (Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui),” said Sebastian when presenting MRP grants to associations on behalf of his minister.
The associations were the KRT IKBN Miri Division, Miri Paintball Club, Miri Hindu Association, Sarawak Teachers Union (STU) Miri and Hunyuan HeXiang Zhang Qigong Miri.
Vice-president of the STU, Northern Sarawak, Dundang Bantin thanked the government for the grant, which he said was a testimony of its concern for the people.
“We hope members of STU and other civil servants will continue to stand solidly behind the present government especially in the forthcoming PRU (general election).
Help the government make the national education policy a success, tough for teachers as implementers, let’s support the government.
I am calling fellow colleagues to stand firm and don’t gamble with our future by looking for other options, because the government will work with us, whatever the policy is,” he said.
